Freezer Paper Valentine’s Shirts

Hey guys! How’s it going? This is probably my last Valentine’s Day post for this year (tear). It feels like Valentine’s Day has come so quickly! I love creating t-shirts from fabric paint and freezer paper. I have done it a few times now, but somehow a tutorial has never ended up on the blog. Yeah I have no idea how that happened… I don’t even know anymore.

This year, I had some “extra” time on MLK day. By “extra” I mean it wasn’t really extra time, I just didn’t want to do my other boring stuff. Me and my sisters went out to the store to buy some Valentine’s candy and ingredients for some projects I was going to make. Somehow we came back with 3 red t-shirts and supplies to make Valentine’s t-shirts.

Let me tell you, these t-shirts might look like they were time consuming but they aren’t at all! Freezer paper makes stenciling SO easy! I can’t wait to tell you guys more about this great stuff! I created 3 different designs for these Valentine shirts. The design files are available free for personal use because I love you guys ;).

This first shirt is mine (if you couldn’t tell). It says “Love is all you need”. Great quote, right?

This next shirt is my sisters. It’s a heart filled with different fun patterns.

This next one is probably my favorite. If you can’t tell, it has pictures of Hugs and Kisses candy. LOVE IT!

MATERIALS:

  • T-shirt
  • Fabric paint. I like to use the matte kind.
  • Freezer paper
  • Electronic cutter. I used my Silhouette.
  • Foam brush

DIRECTIONS:

  • Okay, first things first you need to download the t-shirt designs (link at the end of this post) and cut them on freezer paper using either an electronic cutter or you can do it freehand, it will just take longer.
  • Iron the freezer paper design onto the shirt. You want the shiny side to be face down on the shirt because that is the adhesive part of the freezer paper.
  • Using fabric paint and a sponge brush, brush a light layer of paint on the inside of the stencil and allow it to dry. You may need to do this several times.
  • Let the shirt dry and wash it according to the directions on your fabric paint.
